MELBOURNE: Australia resumed their innings at 35-2 after the match was restricted to 32-over-a-side due to rain in the opening tri one-day series international here at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

Vinay Kumar gave India a strong start with the ball but rain was threatening to play a major role in the first Commonwealth Bank Series match at the MCG.

The players were forced from the field after 11 overs, with Australia at 2 for 35, and with plenty more wet weather on the radar.
