PESHAWAR: Residents of Zargarabad Peshawar on Saturday protested against what they called the discretion of Agha Mustafa Shah Graveyard by the government officials.
They were holding placards inscribed with different slogans for the protection of the concerned graveyard. They were also shouting full throat slogans against District Coordination Officer (DCO) Peshawar.
Led by Ghulam Hussain, President Qabristan Bachao Tehrek (Save graveyard movement), Hussain Afridi, chairman of the movement and Abdul Samad general secretary the protestors said government officials were found involved in discretion of the graveyard.
Talking to reporters they said despite the Peshawar High Court decision to ban construction work in graveyard, work on a tube well had been started in the said graveyard for which scores of trees had been removed which, they added was violation of court the orders.
