ISLAMABAD: Load shedding continues across the country despite claims by Water and Power Minister Naveed Qamar that it would stop from Tuesday.

On Monday, Qamar had announced on the floor of the National Assembly that there would be no more load shedding from February 7, 2012 adding that power generation across the country had improved.

However a shortfall of 3,400 megawatts still remains and several cities of Punjab including Lahore are still experiencing load shedding.

In Karachi, residents in several areas are without power for up to 6 hours on a daily basis while in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan the duration is at least 4 hours.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the duration of load shedding is 6 hours.
