Load shedding spirals cost of production

KARACHI: General Secretary All Karachi Tajir Ittehad Sharjel Goplani has said due to daily electricity load shedding in markets and business centers the production capacity has decreased by 30pc while the cost of production increased by 25%.

He said ironically the ministers are announcing an end to load shedding, but the electricity supply company issuing their load shedding schedule, which shows the ministry of water and power was befooling public.

He said hours-long load shedding even in winter season is the warning that the situation in summer would be worse. He said the government was not taking any practical step to control load shedding except giving more rhetoric. He said the government has failed to meet the electr5city needs of public as well as business sector.

He suggested the government to end the monopolies in electricity sector and allow more power companies to work in the country. He also demanded to expedite work on Thar Coal Project and to eliminate 'corruption and commission mafia' which was hindering the project.
