Ministry of Finance clarifies news report

ISLAMABAD: A Spokesman of the Ministry of Finance has contradicted a news item appeared in a section of the press on February 12, 2012 in which the transfer of Dr.Waqar Masood has been attributed to `unearthing' of facts by IMF, whereby the fiscal deficit of the country had the budget deficit was understated by Rs.532 billion by the Ministry of Finance.

The spokesman further clarified that this news report is not based on facts and said that the 2011 Article-4 Consultations Report of the IMF is very much is available on the website of the fund and is clear to see that the above reported facts are not part of this Report, and the report is based merely on speculation.
