LONDON: British police arrested two men on Friday on suspicion of computer hacking as part of an investigation set up alongside an inquiry into phone hacking at Rupert Murdoch's media empire.
Scotland Yard said a 50-year-old man was arrested at his home in Hertfordshire, north of London, and a 51-year-old man was arrested in Surrey, southwest of London.
Both men were held on suspicion of committing offences under British computer misuse laws and a law regulating the use of investigatory powers, a police statemnt said, without identifying either man.
"These arrests are not directly linked to any news organisation or the activities of journalists," the police statement said.
But it said they were arrested as part of Operation Tuleta, set up to probe computer hacking allegations which fall outside the remit of Operation Weeting, the phone hacking investigation. (AFP)
