Riding her luck to bring up a fine ton, Pakistan's right-handed batter Sidra Ameen, became the first Pakistani woman batter to score a century in the World Cup.

However, Pakistan's middle and lower order did not support her and the Bangladeshi team clinch their first-ever Women's World Cup victory, defeating Pakistan by nine runs, in a pulsating encounter, Geo News reported Monday.

History made

Sidra Ameen is the first Pakistani woman batter to score a century in the World Cup.

Ameen finished the century on 136 balls.

Pakistan, chasing 234 runs, needed 94 runs off its final 15 overs, with Ameen and Bismah Maroof at the crease as their anchors.

In less than 12 overs, the duo had put on 50 runs. Bangladesh's fielders, who were sloppy and dropped catches, allowed Ameen reach the best score by a Pakistan batter in Women's World Cups, ESPNcrinfo reported.

The second-wicket stand between Maroof and Jahanara Alam fell apart after Maroof miscued a heave off Alam to midwicket in the next over. After that, Pakistan lost eight wickets for 70 runs, including a stretch where five wickets fell for five runs.

The Pakistani middle-order collapsed completely with three batters earningfirst-ball ducks, including the veteran combination of Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz.

The Pakistani team has been winless in the ongoing mega tournament and has lost all four matches.
