Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is spreading among cattle, with the Sindh government placing a ban on the sale of meat across the province to curb the spread of the virus.

In light of the events, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has also allowed the import of two different types of vaccines from Turkey and Jordan to contain and prevent LSD in cows and buffaloes.
However, an infection disease expert at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Dr Faisal Mahmood, has said that the disease only occurs in cows and buffaloes, not other animals or cattle. Although not preferred, the meat and milk of these animals can be consumed after thoroughly cooking them.
