LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir ordered a crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

He informed that Lahore police had arrested 2,979 proclaimed offenders in two months of 2012 who were involved in 90 cases of murder, 86 of attempt-of-murder, 83 of dacoity, 212 of theft, 316 of robbery and 2,192 other cases.

About 1,912 court absconders, who were wanted in four cases of murder, 19 of attempt-of-murder, five of dacoity, 100 of theft, 30 of robbery and 1,754 other cases, were also arrested in this period.

He directed all divisional SPs to further strengthen a system of search and surveillance in their respective areas.

He ordered all officers for prompt registration of all legitimate cases and warned that, in case of a complaint, the SHO concerned would be strictly proceeded.
