Author and professor Sara Suleri Goodyear passed away on Monday at the age of 68 in Bellingham, WA.

Sara — who was born in Karachi in 1953 — was the daughter of prominent journalistZiauddin Ahmad Suleri, best known as ZA Suleri, andWelsh English professor Mair Jones.

The author was predeceased by her husbandAustin Goodyear. She is survived by her younger siblings, many nieces, nephews and their children.

Sara completed her secondary education in Lahore where she graduated fromKinnaird College. She then received her Master's degree in English Literature from Punjab University. She went on to get her PhD in English and started her teaching career at a college. Later, she taught at Yale University.

Sara — who was a founding editor of the Yale Journal of Criticism — was well-known for her memoir 'Meatless Days', in which she encapsulated her memories from days in Lahore. She also wrote 'The Rhetoric of English India', followed by 'Boys Will Be Boys' which was based on her father'sjournalistic career.

Her memorial service will be held at a later date.
