Tension prevails in Gilgit

GILGIT: Following aerial firing during a rally, tension resumed in the area.

After the incident government vans with loudspeakers announced the imposition of Section 144 and advised residents to stay indoors.

The firing incident took place during a condolence rally held for a victim of the Kohistan bus ambush.

The situation in Gilgit has been tense over the course of the last week following the brutal killing of 16 people during a bus ambush in Kohistan.
