A man was arrested by the police and charged with a first-degree felony after he killed his girlfriend following a petty quarrel.
According to a report by KSL, the incident took place in the Orem city of Utah, United States. The man, identified as DanielPadilla-Ang, 27, had a fight with his girlfriend.
The couple had gotten into an argument over a vape pen after which the woman slapped Daniel.
Enraged, he retaliated by strangling his girlfriend to death. After committing the crime, he called 911 at about 3am and said: "I just strangled my girlfriend to death. She's dead … It was me."
When the police arrived at the man's apartment, he was ready to surrender, the report said. Upon interrogation by detectives,Padilla-Ang said that he had been in a relationship with his girlfriend for many months.
"She had come to my apartment the day before and we consumed alcohol that night," he said, adding that the deceased woman had a vape pen that he wanted to use but she refused to give it to him.
As a result, he snatched it from her and broke it. This made the woman furious, so she slapped him and also pushed him.
Paddila-Ang reacted by strangling his girlfriend with his hands and shaking her.
"After she passed out, he started punching her and he said, 'die,'" according to the charges.
"He put his hands over (her) mouth and pinched her nose to see if she was still breathing. When she did not struggle, he knew she was dead."
After killing the woman, Padilla-Ang drank more alcohol and sent text messages to his family, saying that he had committed a murder and would not be seeing them for a while.
The man had a criminal record, according to the police, and had been arrested five times in the last eight years. He was held twice for domestic violence.
