ISLAMABAD: Iranian city of Shiraz in the southern province of Fars ranked third in the world for the number of organ transplants.

Head of the charity organization providing support to kidney patients Nader Moini said the honor goes to the families who have lost one of their members but donated body organs to give life to other person, Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Noting that at least 200 people are involved in the procedure of organ transplant operation, he said that 251 persons have so far received kidney transplants.

According to Moini, 341 cases of liver transplants and 23 cases of pancreases transplants have also been carried out. (APP)
