HYDERABAD: A student belonging to the student wing of a nationalist political party was shot dead and 2 others were injured in the Faculty of Arts of Sindh University, Jamshoro, on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident occurred after a wrangle broke out between two groups of students over unknown reason.
The slain student has been identified as Deen Muhammad Dal, a student of Information Technology Department, according to the university spokesman Majeed Panhwar.
Kamran Lashari and Abdul Ghafoor Noohani of the Psychology Department were injured in the incident.
The enraged students in protest have blocked the Indus highway at 2 different locations in Jamshoro district.
According to the police, no FIR of the incident has been registered so far. Meanwhile, a meeting at the vice chancellor's office in wake of the incident decided to ban movement of vehicles inside the campus and to conduct body searches of the students before they entered the campus.
Panhwer told APP that the meeting was attended by acting Vice Chancellor Dr Parveen Shah, SSP Jamshoro, representatives of Sindh University Teachers Association and other staff.
Panhwar said that the SSP had assured that the culprits who were involved in the attack would be arrested. (APP)
