ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik informed reporters on Thursday that former Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden's family had entered Pakistan illegally.

Malik added that cases had been lodged against the widows of bin Laden and they would be presented in court.

However Malik clarified that there were no cases against the children of Osama bin Laden and they were free to leave Pakistan.

The Interior Minister elaborated on the status of Osama bin Laden’s widow's stating that they had been placed on judicial remand.

The former Al-Qaeda leader was killed during a covert US raid on his compound in Abbottabad on May 2, 2011. The raid led to the formation of a judicial commission in Pakistan tasked with probing the events of that day.
