Sindh grants 180 days remission to over 1,000 prisoners
Condemned prisoners, convicted for murder, and those involved in espionage will not benefit from remission
- A total of 1,202 Sindh prisoners to benefit from remission.
- Condemned prisoners, convicted of murder will not benefit from it.
- As many as 371 Central Prison Karachi prisoners will benefit from it.
KARACHI: The Government of Sindh a few days before Eid-ul-Fitr granted special remission of 180 days to the convicted prisoners confined in various prisons across the province.
The Chief Minister's House, in a statement released on Saturday, said the special remission was not applicable to some convicted prisoners, which include:
- Condemned prisoners
- Convicted in murder
- Espionage
- Subversion
- Anti-state activities
- Terrorist activities
- Kidnaping
- Abduction
- Dacoity
- Sentenced under the foreign act
The number of prisoners who will benefit from the special remission of 180 days are 1,202, the statement said.
They include 371 from Central Prison Karachi, 264 Hyderabad, 233 Sukkur, 101 Larkana, 63 Khairpur, 47 Mirpurkhas, eight women prison Karachi, 88 District Prison Malir, Special Prison Nara and Hyderabad 13, Special Prison for Women Sukkur four, Shaheed Benazirabad two, Dadu, Ghotki, Larkana, Youth Industrial School Karachi, Youth Industrial Sukkur one each.
