HYDERABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Syed Mushtaq Shah on Friday held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh (SU) Dr. Parveen Shah at her office and discussed the law and order situation in the campus and further improvement in security measures.

According to a University spokesman, the IGP Sindh lauded her continuous efforts for maintaining a congenial educational atmosphere and bringing peace at the campus for promotion of educational environment.

The Acting Vice Chancellor briefed the IGP Sindh about the educational, political scenario as well as circumstances which created disturbances in maintaining academic/ educational activities in a peaceful atmosphere in the campus.

Dr. Shah informed that the police had still not arrested the culprits involved in the murder of Prof. Bashir Ahmed Channer and a student, Deen Muhammad Dal. She emphasised the need for immediate arrest of culprits as well as full police support to The University management for bringing peace to the campus.

She informed that 23000 male and female students are studying in morning and evening session in 54 institutes and departments of the University and due to delay in arrest of culprits, the students, faculty members, employees and community of Jamshoro are feeling insecure.

The IGP Sindh informed that Police have initiated several actions for the arrest of the culprits and assured the arrest soon of those who involved in the murder of Prof. Bashir Ahmed Channar and a student, Deen Muhammad Dal.

He offered full cooperation on behalf of Sindh Police and assured that all possible steps will be taken for bringing peace for smooth running of academic activities in the campus.
