ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's former envoy to US Husain Haqqani has written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan, seeking permission to record his testimony before the Memogate Commission via video link, sources said.
Husain Haqqani has made a request to the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry seeking the same facility that was provided to Mansoor Ijaz, the main character of the Memogate scandal.
According to the sources, Haqqani said that he was fearful of extremists and some state officials in Pakistan and his testimony would be as effective through video link as given in person.
He said not giving the same facility to him would be tantamount to giving higher importance to a foreigner than to a Pakistani.
Hussain Haqqani when asked about the letter, said that he could not make public the letter written to Chief Justice of Pakistan.
