LAHORE: Various strategies relating to investigation system in crime against women, arrest of hardened POs, welfare of the martyred police officials and change of police uniform are underway.
Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman said this while addressing to Police Darbar at Police Line, Bahawalnagar and media representative on Thursday.
DPO Bahawalnagar and all Police Officials were present on the occasion.
The IGP said that the Police Department had already been directed to ensure action in crime against women. He said that he would personally follow the investigations of crime such as acid attacks on women.
He also reached Sayed Akkan Wali village of 17 years old Meena Bibi who was raped few weeks back. He directed the RPO Bahawalnagar to look into the matter personally and arrest the accused so that they could be taken to task.
The IGP told that to finalize the planning for nabbing and arresting of hardened criminals a high level meeting has been convened on Monday at PHQ, Punjab, Lahore. All RPOs and DPOs of the province will attend this meeting.
He also announced to increase the funeral charges of police martyrs from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. He said that schools for the children of police officials would be setup in Police Lines across the province.
While talking about the change of police uniform the IGP said that black colour of the uniform appeared to be responsible for the short-tempered behaviour of policemen. He said that due to hot climate in Punjab black shirts absorbed extra heat in summer and make policemen cranky and ill-tempered.
The IGP stressed upon the officers that we should make CIA and Patrolling Police more effective and functional to root out the crime from the province. (APP)
