KARACHI: The government is endeavouring to promote industrial and commercial activities to help generate employment opportunities and also tackle the problem of poverty.
The Governor of Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, here, stated this on Thursday.
He was talking to a delegation of Tannery Association led by prominent industrialist Gulzar Feroze, which called on him at the Governor House here.
Dr. Ishrat pointed out that economic headway depends of commercial and industrial activities.
He was of the view that for promoting the tannery further, the problems of this industry would have to be addressed.
The Governor directed Commissioner Karachi, Roshan Shaikh, and Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), Misbahuddin Farid, for laying water pipelines and reverse osmosis (RO) plants around the industries for providing clean water in accordance with their requirements.
He also directed the Municipal Commissioner to make arrangements for proper disposal of the solid waste and that roads in the industrial areas be also repaired. (APP)
