KARACHI: A Taiwanese vessel hit ground near Manora Karachi, has been pulled out at 4:00am today, Geo News reported.

VM North, a container ship bearing the Taiwanese flag, hit ground near the outer anchorage of the Karachi Port due to engine failure here Friday.

A spokesman of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) informed that four tugs boats took part in the rescue operation. The spokesman said the ship is 279 meter long, has 46697 Gross Register Tonnage (GRT) and has approximately 1740 containers on-board.

He added that the ship had departed from Singapore and had hit ground some 2.5 nautical miles from the port’s lighthouse.

The spokesman claimed that the ship was outside the navigational channel of the port, hence it was not having any effect on port operations.
