RAWALPINDI: Municipal Services Department Rawalpindi has removed so far as many as 1200 tonnes garbage from 33 Union Councils during grand cleanliness campaign launched in Rawalpindi city.
Under the special cleanliness campaign, so far 33 Union Councils (UCs) have been cleared while overall 16 kilometers sewerage lines have also been cleaned.
Four UCs, 1, 14, 36 and 45 were cleaned on Saturday.
Thousands tonnes debris of demolished buildings was also lifted from seven plots, three of Potohar Town and four of Rawal Town.
Executive District Officer (EDO) Municipal Services Imtiaz Ahmed Malik informed the meeting held in this regard that authorities concerned are regularly visiting different areas of the city to inspect the cleanliness work being done by the sanitary workers.
He said that the citizens including traders have been urged to cooperate with the sanitary workers and play their role in this connection so that the city could be made neat and clean.
Under a decision, the owners of nearly 12 open plots will be issued notices, he said.
EDO and DO said that Rawalpindi city will be made a pollution and dust free city.
