KP Minister for Mineral Development, others arrested on corruption charges

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Mineral Development, Ziaullah Afridi was arrested amongst others on Thursday on charges of corruption by the National Accountability Bureau and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission.

Afridi, a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested for misusing his authority for personal purposes.

PTI leader Naeem -ul-Haq said that the decision after transparent investigation will be accepted.

Meanwhile, investigations revealed embezzlement of billions of rupees by the Mines and Minerals Department of KP.

Following the disclosure, former minister Nawabzada Mehmood Zeb and Bannu Commissioner Asmatullah Khan, along with other officials were taken into custody.
