Hotels, bakers fined for unhygienic food

LAHORE: Special monitoring teams of the district administration during campaign against adulteration and unhygienic food, imposed a fine of Rs 35,500 against food service providers for selling substandard food items.

The district Food department sources stated here on Friday that food inspectors raided 154 hotels, marriage halls, sweets shops and bakers in various areas of the city during last two days and found a number of outlets in violation of Pure Food Laws.

Overall 51 samples of food items were taken for lab analysis after which further proceedings would be done against violators of Pure Food Laws, the sources added.
