Parliamentary body discusses nominations made for CEC

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Committee on appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and Members of Election Commission on Friday deliberated the nominations forwarded by the prime minister and Leader of the Opposition to confirm anyone of the nominees for appointment as Chief Election Commissioner.

The committee, which met at the Parliament House with Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, in the chair, decided to continue its deliberations on the said nominations in its next meeting to be held on June 5.

The committee unanimously called upon the media, not to make any comment on the nominees under consideration before the Committee in public interest.

The meeting was attended by Senators Islam-ud-Din Sheikh, Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq, Haji Muhammad Adeel, Arif Aziz Sheikh, and MNAs Zahid Hamid, Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Tehmina Daultana.
