Kahuta: 23 dead as bus plunges into gorge

ISLAMABAD: At least 23 people including women and children lost their lives while more than 70 others sustained injuries when a wedding bus plunged into a ravine at Kahuta road, rescue sources said.

According to the sources, the incident took place when the wedding bus, carrying more than 100 people was returning to Chakwal after the wedding ceremony. The bus fell into a gorge some 25 kilometers from Kahuta. Resultantly, 23 people were killed more than 70 others wounded.

The rescuers and the local people rushed to the spot and started shifting people to hospitals. The rescue team had to cut the outer body of the bus to take out the injured and dead.

CPO Rawalpindi Azhar Hameed Rawalpindi said that investigation wa being conducted to determine the cause of the incident.
