KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain early on Friday strongly condemned and protested against a Rangers’ raid at the party headquarters Nine-Zero, in which two party leaders were taken into custody.

In a statement issued from London, he said raids, arrests and atrocities would not weaken his party’s resolve. “For what purpose Muhajirs are being pushed against the wall?” he questioned.

Hussain also directed workers and masses to remain united, disciplined and peaceful.

Meanwhile, in an emergency press conference called in the aftermath of the raid, MQM leaders Tahir Mashhadi, Barrister Saif and Dr Farooq Sattar said the party leaders were being arrested unlawfully.

They said the MQM was being targeted in the guise of Karachi operation.
