Search underway for young woman who drowned at Karachi’s Seaview beach
Police able to reach family through identification documents present in wallet found at site
KARACHI: Rescue teams are searching for the body of a young woman who reportedly drowned at Seaview beach Friday with police saying the incident is under investigation.
The police said it was yet to be seen whether it was a case of death by suicide or something else.
She has been identified as Sara Malik, daughter of Abrar Ahmed, and a resident of Karachi's Azam Basti, a neighbourhood in Karachi East.
The police said that the search was stopped last night as it was too dark to continue with the rescue work.
The search was resumed today (Saturday) in the presence of an uncle from the woman's family, according to police sources.
As perGeo News, police were able to reach the family through documents found in her wallet recovered from Do Darya.
“We are investigating whether the girl committed suicide or it was something else,” the police said.
Karachi’s Do Darya is a popular destination for foodies where a large number of restaurants are established along the seashore in DHA Phase 8.
