LAHORE: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) announced Sunday that their decision regarding the Punjab wide strike would be made after 10:00 PM Sunday.
Representatives from the YDA spoke to the media and said that senior doctors had played an important role in breaking the deadlock with the provincial government. The YDA representatives claimed that not one patient had died in the Out Patient Department (OPD) during the strike.
YDA representatives added that a document with their demands had been given to senior doctors and their strike would end if these were fulfilled by the government.
However according to the provincial health department, the unlawful YDA strike would have to end without any conditions and they had not shown any flexibility in their stance.
The YDA has put forth three conditions to end the strike which began on June 18 and have demanded that Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif assure them of fulfilling their conditions.
Their demands include appointment of Medical Officer directly in Grade 18, stipend of post-graduate equal to same as of Medical Officer and bringing health professional allowance equal to basic pay.
