PESHAWAR: On special directives of District Coordination Officer (DCO), Javed Marwat, Assistant Coordination Officer (ACO), Syed Zafar Ali Shah accompanied with heavy contingent of police carried out an operation against encroachments on City Circular Road on Monday.

During the operation the footpaths were cleared of encroachments beside the confiscation of the goods put on roads and footpath and 20 persons were arrested on resistance against the operation.

The ACO raided in different bazaars and markets inside Yakatoot area and arrested 24 shopkeepers under Sections 271, 270, 269 and 3/6 for overcharging and selling of poor quality products to the people.

The arrested shopkeepers were included nanbais, milk sellers, butchers, grocers and vegetable sellers.

During the raids, the ACO made it clear that in light of the decisions of the provincial cabinet the punishments for creating artificial shortage, price hike and selling of poor quality products are being implemented strictly.

The DCO directed strictly to check products sold in streets' shops and those violating the laws will be awarded the punishments of imprisonment and fines without any leniency.
