KARACHI: Dozens of shanties were reduced to ashes as a result of fire that broke out near NIPA Chowrangi on Wednesday night, Geo News reported.

Many fire-tenders are at work at the scene of the incident where firefighters are struggling to overcome the fire which is being described by the fire-brigade as 3rd degree.

Fire-tenders from various areas have been called in to douse the flames which have also engulfed a large billboard located near the shanty town.

A thick black smoke soaring from the fire has also spread across the surrounding locality, which is a thickly populated area, causing inconvenience to the residents.

Presence of wooden and plastic structures in the area is making it difficult for the firefighters to bring the fire under control.
