KARACHI: The NATO containers from Port Qasim Karachi have started leaving for Afghanistan in strict security measures, Geo News reported.

According to sources, over 135 containers will leave for Afghanistan from Port Qasim Karachi today (Thursday).

Nato supply route was reopened after a seven-month blockade. The federal cabinet endorsed the decision of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC) for reopening of the supply route.

A notification in this regard has also been issued following Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Nato supplies were halted by Pakistan after the unfortunate incident of Salala, last year on 26th November, 2011 when 24 Pakistani soldiers were martyred by the US forces.
