ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik on Saturday asserted that while everyone had the right to protest, the government would not tolerate any person or persons who decided to take the law into their own hands.

Speaking to reporters, the adviser said that the leaders of banned outfits would be arrested if they ever came to Islamabad. He also said that foolproof security would be assured to Nato containers and convoys now passing through Pakistan into the neighbouring Afghanistan.

In response to a question, Rehman Malik said that parliament was the right forum through which the Constitution could be amended, and added that amendments would be enacted by legislators following a thorough and comprehensive debate. He maintained that parliament ought to be the sole decision making authority as far as issues of dual-nationality and contempt of court were concerned, but regretted that politics of petitions had severely damaged the current system.

The adviser also took a serious note of the killing of illegal immigrants in Turbat on Friday and directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to apprehend all human traffickers within the next three days. He also directed the FIA director general to submit details of the unfortunate incident by Sunday. Rehman Malik further directed the FIA to launch a crackdown against human smugglers operating in the country.

The adviser received a detailed briefing from the chief and home secretaries of Balochistan and directed additional director general and additional director general and director FIA Quetta Human Trafficking to reach Quetta immediately. He also urged the people to avoid illegally migrating to other countries.
