Ex-PM Gilani accorded rousing welcome in Khanewal

KHANEWAL: Thousands of supporters and party workers accorded a warm welcome to former prime minister and PPP senior vice chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani upon his arrival at railway station here Sunday.

Allama Iqbal Express in which former PM Gilani was on board reached at the railway station at 5:30 pm.

Senior PPP leaders including Raja Riaz, Syed Ahmad Mujtaba Gilani, Haidar Zaman Qureshi, district president Javed Hashmi, Sardar Munir Akbar Haraj, Humayun Khan, Mazhar Khan and a number of supporters reached the railway station to give a warm welcome to their leader. Mureed Hussain Qureshi, the brother of PTI vice chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, also reached the railway station to welcome the former PM.

People showered rose petals over the coach of Allama Iqbal Express and chanted full throat slogans during the stay of train at Khanewal railway station.

Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani kept waving hand in response to the warm welcome accorded by the people in his honour. The train left for Multan after five-minute stay at Khanewal railway station. (APP)
