LONDON: Sun Yang became the first male swimmer from China to win an Olympic gold medal here Saturday after powering to victory in the 400m freestyle.

South Korea's defending champion Park Tae-Hwan -- who had been disqualified before being reinstated in the heats -- took silver while Peter Vanderkaay of the United States finished third at the Olympic Park's Aquatics Centre. (AFP)
