JOHANNESBURG: South Africa's powerful National Union of Mineworkers said Friday that 36 people died in the police crackdown on a deadly wildcat strike at platinum mine.
"We are saddened by this loss of life. The figure we have of yesterday is 36," the union's secretary general Frans Baleni said on local radio.
