ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has issued its orders in the case pertaining to the non-payment of salaries to lady health workers.

A three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered that 104,000 lady health workers across Pakistan be paid their dues by Saturday and should be provided withdrawal facilities from banks. An implementation report has also been summoned from the Finance Secretary and AGPR office.

The Supreme Court has further directed the federal and provincial governments to give Rs20,000 to petitioner Bushra Arian.

Meanwhile the representatives of the Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial governments informed the court that the funds had arrived and clearance had been given by the accounts general. However the Balochistan government informed the court that funds had not been received but salaries would be disbursed prior to Eid.
