TOWNSVILLE: Australia qualified to play the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup Cricket Tournament defeating South Africa by four wickets here at the Tony Ireland Stadium on Tuesday.

Chasing 192, the young Aussies completed their victory in 48.3 overs after losing six wickets in the first semi-finals of the tournament.

The second semi-finals will be played between India and New Zealand

Opener Cameron Bancroft top-scored with 66 and was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match. Other main scorers were Kurtis Patterson (49) and William Bosisto (40).

For South Africa, seamer Lizaad Williams claimed three wickets for 40 runs.

Earlier, South Africa made 191 for eight in the allotted 50 overs after they were sent into bat by Aussie skipper Bosisto.

Their main scorers were Murray Coetzee (50), Chad Bowes (46) and Prenelan Subrayen (30 not out).

Pace bowlers Mark Steketee took three wickets for 35 and Gurinder Sandhu got two for 23 fo Australia.
