TOWNSVILLE: Pakistan after failing to get into the semi-finals of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, failed again to win their fifth place play-off semi-finals against the West Indies here at the Endeavour Park Stadium on Wednesday.
Chasing a winning target of 167 runs, Pakistan batsmen could not resist against the guiles of slow-left-arm bowler Indian bowlers Derone Davis and were all out for 166 in 48.3 overs to hand over the West Indies a 16-run victory.
Davis captured three wickets for 20 runs in his quota of ten overs while left-arm paceman Jerome Jones took two for 29.
Captain Babar Azam was again the top-scorer for Pakistan with a valuable 38, followed by Umar Waheed (31) and Mohammad Nawaz (28).
Earlier, the West Indies, sent into bat by Pakistan, were all out for 182 in 49 overs. Their main scorers were Kraigg Brathwaite (39) and Stephen Katwaroo (35).
For Pakistan, left-arm medium-pacer Mir Hamza grabbed three and leg-spinner Usman Qadir claimed two wickets.
