Criminals using toy guns in Karachi: Commissioner

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh has suggested imposing ban forthwith on importing, manufacturing and selling various kinds of toy guns, as according to him such artificial weapons are used in committing the crimes in the city.

“A high level meeting of civil administration would soon be convened to evolve strategy for curbing this trend,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

“The toy guns are reportedly used in committing dozens of crimes daily in the city by the extortionists and street criminals, as it is very easy to throw the artificial weapons away and escape the arrest,” he said adding that in many cases it has been observed that toy guns are used as they look like real weapons.

In many incidents the children have been injured while playing with toy guns, which is also matter of concern. “The demand of toy guns is growing and very much needs to be curbed,” he urged. (PPI)
