Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who practices jujitsu, a close combat Japanese martial art, took no time in accepting the tech billionaire and Twitter CEO Elon Musk's challenge to a one-on-one fight in an octagon cage. Who will win this fight?
CEO Twitter Musk posted on the social media platform Twitter saying he was "up for a cage fight" with Meta's Zuckerberg to which he replied by uploading a screenshot of Musk’s tweet with the caption "send me location".
According to a Meta spokesperson, "the story speaks for itself."
Elon Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, then replied to Zuckerberg's response with: "Vegas Octagon."
It is a platform used for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bouts in a fenced-in area, based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Musk, who will become 52 this month also wrote on Twitter: "I have this great move that I call ‘The Walrus’, where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing."
He also wrote further that “I almost never work out, except for picking up my kids & throwing them in the air."
Meanwhile, 39-year-old CEO Meta Zuckerberg has already been training in mixed martial arts (MMA) and has recently won jiu-jitsu tournaments.
The exchanges gained traction with millions of people on social media sparking a debate among users that who will triumph in this combat. Other users also mocked with their posters about the fight of both the high-profile individuals.
Earlier this month Meta announced developing a text-based social media platform — speculated to be launched in June — where users could share timely updates about their interests, the company’s spokesperson told BBC.
According to the BBC, Meta’s new platform would compete with social media giant Twitter.
The platform could enable users to follow the accounts they already follow on Facebook's parent company’s image-sharing platform Instagram, potentially allowing them to attract followers from decentralised platforms such as Mastodon.
A spokesperson from Meta said such a platform was in development, adding that “we're exploring a standalone decentralised social network for sharing text updates.”
"We believe there's an opportunity for a separate space where creators and public figures can share timely updates about their interests."
