KARACHI: Pakistan People's Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have reached a consensus over the provisions of Sindh local government ordinance, said Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon here Thursday night.

The provincial Information Minister hoped that Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan will sign and promulgate the Ordinance later tonight.

He said the name of the ordinance will be People's Metropolitan Corporation Ordinance 2012.

According to sources, the local government ordinance will be enforceable in five districts of Sindh - Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas.

The landmark consensus was arrived at between the two major parties of Sindh following a number of marathon meetings held over the previous days and continued till today.

Earlier, the PPP and MQM, the ruling coalition partners in Sindh held a meeting in the provincial capital that continued for several hours.
