BAGRAM: More than 3,100 detainees have on Monday been transferred to Afghan authority at the Bagram prison, which was set up by American troops north of Kabul, a police commander told a handover ceremony.

"Today 3,182 prisoners are handed over to the military police," Safiullah Safi, the commander of the Afghan army's military police, told the event shortly after it got underway at the jail and attended by mostly Afghan government officials
