Pakistani doctors host annual dinner in Dallas

DALLAS: US based Pakistani doctors group “Association of Pakistani Physicians of Pakistani decent of North America”( APPANA) North Texas hosted its annual dinner reception at a local hotel in Dallas.

Doctors of Pakistani origin, their families and other notable personalities of Dallas attended the dinner.

Addressing the gathering, the President APANA North Texas chapter Dr. Hassan Hashmi said that APPANA is continuing the welfare program for community in US and in Pakistan. Pakistani doctors are not only serving local communities but also in Pakistan through APPANA’s platform.

American health care strategist Mr, Jere Stocks as an expert in health care industry also addressed the gathering. He claimed that healthcare industry is still a growing industry and will remain so till 2020. There are a lot of opportunities for investment in this industry.

Mrs, Salma Hashmi of North Texas Alliance thanked the attendees and guests.

Local journalists, community activists and local businesses were recognized by the group and awards were also given on this occasion in recognition for their services to community.

Awardees includes Raja Zahid Akhtar Khanzada (Jang, Geo News, The News), Shariq Hamid (Fun Asia), Parvez and Seema Malik (Radio Hot Pepper) and famous physician Dr. Haq Nawaz and Dr Hassan bukhari.

Son of ex Governor of Sind Lt. General Rakhman Gul and famous American Oncologist Dr. Gul made special presentation on Islamic teachings and traditions.

Services of newly elected and outgoing leadership including Dr. Hasan Hashmi, Dr. Dawood Nasir, Zaim Nawaz, Dr. Mohammad Amir, Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Salma Hashmi, Aisha Jalil, Shamim Ata, and Mamoona Farooq, Rukshana Mahmood were recognized.

A musical program was also presented at the end by vocalists from music group of Indian color where Omkar, Desh Pande, Priya and local singers Haroon and Faraz Hashmi also made performances.

Pakistani national songs were also presented on this occasion.

Attendees expressed gratitude for APPANA North Texas community work in North Texas. They specially appreciated the distribution of gifts to needy around Eid day in local community.

APPANA’s work on welfare projects in Pakistan was also appreciated by the audience as they expressed their gratitude over Pakistani Doctors giving back to Pakistani community and for their sentiments towards Pakistan.
