COLOMBO: Ireland captain William Porterfield won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in a group B match of the World Twenty20 in Colombo on Wednesday.

The West Indies are the third team in the group, from which two will qualify for the Super Eights round.

Australia: George Bailey (capt), David Warner, Shane Watson, Matthew Wade, Michael Hussey, Cameron White, Daniel Christian, Glenn Maxwell, Brad Hogg, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins.

Ireland: William Porterfield (capt), Alex Cusack, George Dockrell, Trent Johnston, Nigel Jones, Ed Joyce, Kevin O'Brien, Niall O'Brien, Boyd Rankin, Paul Stirling, Gary Wilson.
