KARACHI: MQM chief Altaf Hussain addressed rallies and gatherings via telephone in major cities of Pakistan on Sunday.
The MQM chief said that delimitation of constituencies was the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to Hussain, the new delimitation of constituencies was being done to break the MQM vote bank.
Hussain said remarks of a judge that delimitation should be done in such a way that no one party has monopoly, could be harmful for the country.
He called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of statements which were objectionable.
“It is for the people to decide who should be elected and who should not. We will not let people rob us of our democratic right,” Altaf said.
Hussain further said it was unconstitutional to conduct delimitation of constituencies prior to conducting a new census.
Altaf Hussain added that those who spoke of finishing the MQM were finished themselves.
Commenting on the wave of violence in Karachi, the MQM chief said the ethnic conflict in the city was fuelled by conspiracies.
