Lahore: CCTV footage shows cops killed unarmed man

LAHORE: A Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera footage, acquired by Geo News, shows how cops claimed accolades after gunning down an unarmed man, who they later declared a dacoit, Geo New reported.

This grotesque incident of police brutality, which was by no means the last one, unfolded in Ghalib Market near Gulberg.

Reportedly, on the night between Friday and Saturday, the police spokesmen flooded the media with the grim details of an encounter in which they had shot and killed an alleged armed robber risking their lives.

The reports said the neutralized malefactor, when challenged, opened fire at the police party forcing the lawmen to fire back.

The encounter, according to police account, continued for sometime, but the guns of law finally got the outlaw.

Cops also claimed a handgun as well as ample ammo was found lying near the body of the mugger.

All that turned out to be a yarn that the men of law had spun to cover up their crime against humanity.

The Superintended of Police Model Town went as far as glorifying this barbarity in a conference full of pressmen. He gave out all the fabricated details of the made-up act of cops valiance in a proud yet self-admiring way.

Then Geo News came up with the CCTV footage, which pulled the curtain on the body of lies that police had so brazenly built up. It clearly shows how cops hunted down an unarmed young man, Mohsin, a resident of Chakwal, to get themselves decorated.

The footage also shows a handgun was planted next to Mohsin’s dead body.

Authorities have stepped in on the issue after Geo News broke the news.

Inspector General Police Punjab, who was also shocked by the efficiency of his department, has vowed to get to the bottom of the matter and take the culprits to the task himself.

The footage news broken by Geo also moved Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, into seeking an immediate report of the shocking incident.
