ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has rejected a soon to be released report by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which stipulates that corruption in Pakistan amounts to billions of rupees daily.
There was a heated debated during the cabinet session on Friday regarding the report and it was decided that corruption of billions was not possible daily in the country. Members of the cabinet asked Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to summon Chairman NAB and ask him to explain his statement regarding the corruption and his basis for it.
According to sources, the cabinet members also condemned a report by Transparency International Pakistan and asked as to whose agenda the organization was working on.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Ashraf has formed a four member committee to probe the corruption charges.
The report by NAB will be published on 14 December. According to the report corruption of Rs6-7 billion is committed in Pakistan daily.
