KARACHI: The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Thursday carried out a controlled blast near Baloch Colony area of the city after a suspicious briefcase was found near a flyover, Geo News reported.

SP Crime Investigation Department (CID) Mazhar Mishwani told media that the briefcase turned out to be empty and no explosives were found. The empty briefcase was exploded by a controlled blast by the BDS.

Earlier, police said a brief case containing explosive material and a detonator have been found near Baloch Colony flyover.

A senior police official had said that a car was also found parked near the brief case.

He said that the Bomb Disposal Squad was called in while the area was vacated from people to avert any untoward incident.
