Seth Meyers weighs in on Lorne Michaels' departure from 'SNL'

Seth Me­yers expresse­d opinions on gossip surrounding Lorne Michaels' potential e­xit from Saturday Night Live.

Appearing on Mike Birbiglia's Working It Out podcast, the­ 50-year-old TV personality dismissed such rumours as me­re "dramatics".

When the podcast host asked the American comedian, “Are you gonna take over for Lorne, or is it Tina Fey and then you?

The Late Night with Seth Meyerhost replied, “I think this is a false narrative that Lorne is going anywhere.

Meyers who worked in SNL from 2001 to 2014 as head writer further expressed his belief that the television writer’s announcement to leave the show was not serious.

He elaborated, “I think it made sense for Lorne — who’s, yeah, got a flair for the dramatic — to say, ‘I think I’ll be done at 50.'”

“It’s not like Lorne’s got something else he wants to do more than this”, he added.

Birbiglia hit back at Meers with sarcasm and said, “So you think it’s Kenan THompose?, to which he jokingly replied, “I think it’s Kenan”.

For those unversed, Lorne has led Saturday Night Live as a writer, producer and executive producer. The 79-year-old film producer has been a part of this show since its co-creation in 1975.

However, earlier this year, the SNL founder hinted at his departure from the show as he noted, “We’re doing the 50th-anniversary show in February of ’25, so I will definitely be there for that, and definitely be there until that, and sometime before that, we’ll figure out what we’re gonna do,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
